The island of Frösön is only a short walk from the city centre, across the walking bridge. Of course also reachable by car and bus. Hunters and Vikings used to live here a long time ago, and since then the island has been a gathering place for humans. The Swedish composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger built his home "Sommarhagen" on Frösön after falling in love with the island. Today his home is a museum and one of the most visited sites in Östersund.
