Inspiration

Check out these books for further San Diego reading. The novel Drift by Jim Miller explores San Diego's boom time through the eyes of a college professor in the year 2000. Leave Only Paw Prints: Dog Hikes in San Diego offers myriad walking spots that are dog-friendly, along with smart travel tips for your furry friend. San Diego Legends: Events, People and Places That Made History goes beyond the typical history-book material to reveal little-known stories about San Diego.

San Diego has a rich film history, thanks to the city's unique geography and proximity to Los Angeles. Some of the better-known films made here include Some Like it Hot, Top Gun, Traffic, and Almost Famous. The bar scene in Top Gun was filmed at a local restaurant, Kansas City BBQ, on the corner of Kettner Boulevard and West Harbor Drive. And, of course, don't forget to take Anchorman Ron Burgundy's advice, and "Stay classy, San Diego."
